Montpellier chief executive Laurent Nicollin has revealed that Newcastle United have agreed a deal to sign Remy Cabella.
Newcastle have been long-term admirers of the attacking midfielder, and appeared to have reached an agreement to sign him back in January.
That prospective deal fell through, but the Premier League club finally look to have secured the 24-year-old s services.
There is an agreement with Newcastle, Nicollin is quoted as saying by the French media.
Cabella has established himself as one of the top young players in France in recent years with his exciting performances for Montpellier.

Spain s anti-doping agency AEPSAD has stated it only opens disciplinary proceedings when it has sufficient evidence of a possible anti-doping rule violation following allegations made against Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos by German publication Der Spiegel.
The claims, which are based on documents purportedly obtained by whistleblowers Football Leaks, suggested Ramos had broken anti-doping protocol on two occasions.
Real Madrid have issued a statement insisting Ramos has never breached such rules, while UEFA strongly and categorically refuted unfounded allegations it has covered up positive doping results , in relation to accusations the Spain defender gave a sample containing traces of a forbidden substance after the 2017 Champions League final against Juventus.

Sean Dyche believes that Burnley have lost the mentality that saw them finish seventh in the Premier League last term, after they were beaten 2-0 by Crystal Palace.
Burnley sit 18th in the top flight, and are now without a win in seven games, with goals from James McArthur and Andros Townsend doing the damage at Selhurst Park.
And Dyche acknowledged that, although he cannot question his side s effort, Burnley lack cohesion and focus to their play, and used a boxing analogy to describe the Clarets troubles.
The best side won, simple as that. We are in the position where the eye of the tiger has gone, last season everyone was on it, he said.
To get the eye of the tiger back, a boxer has to get back in the gym. We need to get the gloves on and start fighti…
Chelsea dominated Arsenal 3-1 in the Women’s Super League in a game which was delayed by 30 minutes due to a clash of socks.
The league leaders moved three points clear of Manchester City, who have the chance to respond against Brighton on Sunday, and six ahead of the Gunners.
The reigning champions avenged their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Arsenal at the Emirates in December through goals from Lauren James and Sjoeke Nusken’s brace.
The German midfielder’s double put her on six league goals for the season and substitute Catarina Macario’s own goal was mere consolation for the north Londoners.
The first whistle at Stamford Bridge was paused while Arsenal staff collected black socks from their opponents’ megastore, using blue tape to cover the Che…

The South American heavyweights renew their arch-rivalry in the Superclasico de las Americas this weekend in the unfamiliar surroundings of the Bird s Nest Stadium in Beijing.
It is almost two years since the two nations locked horns, when Brazil claimed the title on penalties in Buenos Aires.
Many had hoped that Brazil and Argentina would meet in the World Cup final three months ago, but Germany had other ideas as they thrashed the hosts 7-1 in the semi-final before beating Argentina in the final.
Both nations have since appointed new coaches, with Martino replacing Alejandro Sabella as Argentina b…
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah bemoaned loss of concentration for his team s 2-1 loss to the United States in Natal on Monday.

Clint Dempsey gave the USA the lead when he burst onto Jermaine Jones pass, cut inside John Boye and slotted home the opening goal after just 29 seconds, while the Americans claimed victory with John Brooks header in the closing stages after he got away from the same Ghanaian defender to power a corner into the net.

James Rodriguez left Real Madrid on Tuesday to take a second bite at proving his talents with one of Europe s biggest clubs, agreeing a two-year loan deal with Bayern Munich.
Colombia international James was the breakout star of the 2014 World Cup but saw his first-team opportunities dwindle over the course of his three years at the Santiago Bernabeu.
As part of the deal that takes the 25-year-old to Germany, Bayern can reportedly make the move permanent for €35million, and a look at James stats since he arrived in Spain suggest that would be a bargain.
Despite making just 77 LaLiga appearances for Madrid 59 of those from the start James has been a prolific creative force in the Madrid attack when given the chance.
Since joining Madrid in 2014, only six…
