Mata rejects lucrative offer in favor of staying at United

According to a recent report from Marca, Tottenham Hotspur will pay €30 million in order to secure the permanent signing of Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis during the January transfer window. Spurs had made it clear to Betis that this was the direction they wanted to take this deal in, and it doesn’t seem as if the Spanish side are going to be all too opposed to the idea. 

Lo Celso has certainly had a mixed start to life in North London, because while he has provided the club with a few bright sparks in an otherwise poor season thus far, he’s also had some moments where you’d have to question whether or not spending €30 million on him is the right way to go.

Samir Nasri has reunited with former Manchester City team-mate Vincent Kompany at Anderlecht following his release by West Ham.

The 32-year-old became a free agent after West Ham turned down the chance to renew the short-team deal he signed on December 31.

Anderlecht s new player-manager Kompany spent six seasons playing alongside Nasri at City and he has moved to add the former France international to his squad. 

Nasri, used six times by West Ham in the second half of last season, has been handed a 12-month deal by Anderlecht with the option of an additional year.

Gareth Southgate has signed a new contract with England until after Euro 2024, at which point he will have been in charge for almost eight years.

While it remains to be seen what state the Three Lions are in at that point, it is fair to say their current trajectory suggests a positive outcome.

Shortly after finding himself moved into the top job back in 2016, Southgate surmised he had inherited a mess – yet, in the following five years England have come within touching distance of ending that long wait for silverware.

The drought has not been ended, and so Southgate s job is far from finished, but he has got at least another two opportunities.

And on the evidence of the progress he has made, there is much reason for hope.

Walid Regragui is targeting a history-making victory over Spain as he insisted his Morocco team have put any negativity behind them.

Morocco have been one of the surprise packages of the World Cup in Qatar, with the Atlas Lions shocking Belgium on their way to winning Group F, which also included 2018 runners-up Croatia.
